The four-part practice recipe
Not sure how to fill the time? A good session usually has four parts:
- Warm up. A scale, an arpeggio, or a gentle technical exercise to get the hands moving.
- Slow and correct. Work new material slowly enough to play it right, then build speed gradually.
- Small sections. Fix the hard bars on their own rather than always playing from the top.
- Finish with fun. End on a piece you love, so practice feels rewarding.
Weekly reflection
What went well this week?
What will I focus on next week?
Remember: quality beats quantity. Short, focused daily practice will always outperform one long, unfocused session.
