Christian
Piano Tutor · Music Education Researcher

I hold a Masters in Music Education from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where I achieved a Distinction and was awarded the Director's Prize for Education in 2023, the conservatoire's highest honour for a graduating education student.

With over 15 years of teaching across all ages and levels, I bring deep musicianship and rigorous educational thinking to every lesson. My teaching currently informs my PhD research into how digital tools can enhance music education.

I am also able to offer in-person lessons for students based in Chester or willing to travel to my studio.

Musicianship & Performance

A performer, not only a teacher

My teaching is based on years of practice as well as academic training. I began studying performance during my Bachelor's degree, where I frequently gave recitals at the Licentiate level; during this time I won first place in the Bach class at the Wirral Festival and placed third in the Beethoven category.

Outside of the 'classical' domain I also performed at numerous informal venues such as local bars and restaurants to support myself in my studies, which allows me to teach a range of different styles and guide students towards their individual goals.

I have also gained studio experience at BBC Radio Merseyside and composed with members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO), experiences that keep my teaching connected to the wider professional music world.

Our Philosophy

Teaching that goes beyond the lesson

Technology lets us teach in ways a traditional in-person lesson simply can't.

01

Every Student is Different

Lessons are built around your specific goals, passing an exam, learning a favourite piece, or simply enjoying playing.

02

Evidence-Based Methods

As an active researcher, my methods are continuously informed by the latest evidence on how people learn most effectively.

03

Digital Tools That Enhance

Screen sharing, annotation, recording and a dedicated LMS offer a richer feedback loop than a typical face-to-face lesson.
